Appointment Instructions

• Watch our helpful video on preparing for your metabolic evaluation (~2 minutes).
• Download and fill out your new client packet, including updated prescription medications and supplement tracking form. Take your time, answer all the questions, and be thorough. This information is reviewed by your provider prior to your visit and is key to having a valuable visit.
• Send this information to in**@*********fe.com or drop it off at our office a minimum of two weeks but NO LATER than one week (7 days) prior to your appointment. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation and rescheduling of your visit to a later date.
• Bring your spouse or significant other to your first visit with you—we find that it is very important for all members of your household to understand the commitment you’re about to make to your health. Your success starts with having your special partner on your side and their “buy in” to your plan from the very start.

• When you arrive, you will be asked to fill out a readiness survey that takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
• Plan to spend about 2 hours at your first appointment. Carving out this time is essential. We don’t want to rush, and we expect that you will have important questions that are critical for us to answer.
• Your provider will spend about 1.5 hours with you discussing your goals and challenges. Afterward, our care coordinators will discuss all of your next steps and answer any questions.
• You are not required to be fasting for this appointment unless you have been scheduled for other diagnostic procedures the same day (if you have been advised to fast, call us with any questions). You may want to bring a snack for after your appointment.
• Bring your spouse or significant other with you to your appointment, if possible.
• If we have not collected your insurance card and ID, please have this with you and present it at check-in to your visit.

• At least 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time

• Print and complete the BCA pre-test prep and waiver or download it and fill it out digitally. Email electronic copies to in**@******fe.com at least 7 days before your visit.
• Carefully and thoroughly read the Body Composition Test Prep sheet. This sheet outlines important Dos and Don’ts for preparing for your test, including:
  • Do not drink any fluid or eat for four (4) hours prior to your test.
  • Do not exercise within 12 hours.
  • Do not consume alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours.
  • Do hydrate well the day before.
  • If you have a pacemaker or an implantable pain pump or AICD, please call our office and notify us.
• Learn more about body composition testing on our website, if desired.

• Your BCA appointment takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
• Future BCA tests will be scheduled at the same time of the month for consistency. If you expect difficulties maintaining this schedule, please speak to us about your appointment time and availability.
• We prefer to complete BCAs prior to routine provider appointments so we can discuss your results during your visit. Please let us know if you reschedule your provider appointment, as we may need to reschedule your BCA appointment as well.

Where to go:Most Thyroid lab appointments are performed in our office at 809 Hwy 466, Unit 202-C, Lady Lake, FL 32159 However, if your lab appointment is scheduled off-site with Quest or Labcorp, you will need to go straight to that location.

When to arrive:At least 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time

How to prepare for thyroid lab appointments:

• DO NOT take medications within 12 hours of your appointment (e.g., if your appointment is at 9 AM, do not take any medications after 9 PM the night before).
• Be hydrated. The 24 hours leading up to this appointment are important for hydration. Lab draws are more comfortable and easier to obtain when your body is hydrated. We realize some are here for hydration and recognize this isn’t always possible.
  • Avoid all other drinks, such as sodas, coffee, alcohol, etc.
• Pack any prescription medications you take to bring with you to your appointment OR have a picture of the bottle labels so that you can write the exact prescription information on your lab prep paperwork.
• Come 5 minutes early to complete the questionnaires and necessary paperwork for this appointment.

How to prepare for hormone lab appointments:

• DO NOT take any form of topical, transdermal, or intravaginal hormones within 24 hours of your appointment.
  • Exception: if you take oral progesterone at bedtime, you may take it as usual.
• Be hydrated. The 24 hours leading up to this appointment are important for hydration. Lab draws are more comfortable and easier to obtain when your body is hydrated. We realize some are here for hydration and recognize this isn’t always possible.
  • Avoid all other drinks, such as sodas, coffee, alcohol, etc.
• Pack any prescription medications you take to bring with you to your appointment OR have a picture of the labels of the bottles so that you can write the exact prescription information on your lab prep paperwork. If you have had a recent appointment with a provider at TNT and you have recently updated your medications and supplements, this will not be necessary.
• Come 5 minutes early to complete the questionnaires and necessary paperwork for this appointment.

What to expect:

• When you arrive, you will be asked to fill out a thyroid or hormone questionnaire, which should take about five minutes to complete.

• Be sure to note the exact name and dosing of your medications as they appear on the prescription bottle.
• Be prepared to tell us what time you took your last dose of medication.
• Copies of lab results are not provided to clients prior to their provider appointments. The provider who orders your test is responsible for explaining your results and reviewing recommendations with you. It is both our privilege and our responsibility to do so.

Most comprehensive lab appointments are performed in our office at 809 Hwy 466, Unit 202-C, Lady Lake, FL 32159 If your lab is scheduled off-site with Quest, you will need to go straight to that location.

At least 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time

• You need to be fasting for comprehensive lab appointments, which means no food for 10 hours prior to your appointment.
• Be hydrated. The 24 hours leading up to this appointment are important for hydration. Lab draws are more comfortable and easier to obtain when your body is hydrated. We realize some are here for hydration and recognize this isn’t always possible.
  • Avoid all other drinks, such as sodas, coffee, alcohol, etc.
• If you are on thyroid medication, do not take it the morning of your appointment. Other medications (such as blood pressure, diabetes, etc.) are fine. If you are a brittle diabetic on insulin, it is important to bring food to take immediately upon completing lab draw. If you are unsure if you should stop any of your medication, call us or send an email to in**@******fe.com
• Thoroughly review and complete the comprehensive lab checklist.
• If you have had a change in insurance since your last lab appointment, provide a copy of the front and back of your new insurance card at least one week in advance of your appointment.
• Notify our office IMMEDIATELY if any of the following apply:
  • You currently have an acute infection of any kind (respiratory infection, UTI, or anything that requires you to take antibiotics).
  • You are experiencing cold or flu symptoms or have had a fever (100.4 or higher) in the last 72 hours.
  • You were recently placed on any form of steroid (such as prednisone) or had a joint injection with a steroid in the past 2 weeks.
  • You have had any form of surgery in the past 2 weeks.
  • You received vaccinations or immunizations of any type in the last 4 weeks.
  • You have undergone scans containing contrast in the past 2 weeks.

• During a comprehensive lab analysis, we perform a full battery of diagnostic testing based on your history, health concerns, and health needs.
• You may be asked to fill out a few brief forms or questionnaires when you arrive.
• Be proactive about notifying us if any changes need to be made to your appointment, especially if you use an off-site lab provider such as Quest.
• If your labs are performed off-site, please notify us at in**@*********fe.com when your lab is complete so we can track your results and expedite your care.
• Any insurance or billing questions must be asked prior to your lab draw appointment. Should you have any concerns about billing and payment of these labs do not wait until the day of the lab draw. It is important to handle these concerns at least 3-5 days prior to your appointment.
• Copies of lab results are not provided to clients prior to their provider appointments. The provider who orders your test is responsible for explaining your results and reviewing recommendations with you. It is both our privilege and our responsibility to do so.

• Avoid taking any form of steroid for at least 2 weeks prior to testing. In some cases, steroids can remain in the system for up to 4 weeks, so please let us know when you last took any form of steroids.
• Avoid taking ANY antihistamines (Zyrtec, Claritin, Benadryl) within 72 hours of your appointment. If you cannot stop taking these medications for 72 hours, we will need to discuss whether or not this type of testing is ideal at this time.
• Be hydrated. The 24 hours leading up to this appointment are important for hydration. Lab draws are more comfortable and easier to obtain when your body is hydrated. We realize some are here for hydration and recognize this isn’t always possible.
  • Avoid all other drinks, such as sodas, coffee, alcohol, etc.
• If testing for gluten intolerance, maintain your regular diet, including gluten (you will need to be exposed to it to know if you are sensitive to it). If you are already on a gluten-free diet, and the purpose of your test is to determine if you are inadvertently being exposed, then you should remain on your gluten-free diet for your testing. This is determined at your provider appointment when the test is ordered. If you have any questions about whether or not you should eat gluten prior to this appointment, please call us to discuss.
• Let us know immediately if you have had a fever (100.4) in the last 72 hours.
• We prefer that you arrive at this appointment fasting (no food for 10 hours); however, fasting is not required.

• During this appointment, we will test you for various food intolerances, sensitivities, and often allergens. The findings of the test will be reviewed with you at a pre-scheduled visit with your coach. The goal is to give you insight so you can begin avoiding these sensitivities in your everyday life to feel, look, and function your very best.
• Your results return in approximately 4-6 weeks depending on the test and the time of year. At the time the test is drawn, we will set up and collect payment for your coach or provider appointment to review your results. At the time of review, we will discuss all results with you thoroughly and provide support for avoiding these allergens, answering any questions you have along the way.
• Copies of lab results are not provided to clients prior to their provider appointments. The provider who orders your test is responsible for explaining your results and reviewing recommendations with you. It is both our privilege and our responsibility to do so.

At least 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time

• Avoid taking any form of steroid for at least 2 weeks prior to testing. In some cases, steroids can remain in the system for up to 4 weeks, so please let us know when you last took any form of steroids.
• Be hydrated. The 24 hours leading up to this appointment are important for hydration. Blood draws are more comfortable and easier to obtain when your body is hydrated. We realize some are here for hydration and recognize this isn’t always possible.
  • Avoid all other drinks, such as sodas, coffee, alcohol, etc.
• Let us know immediately if you have had a fever (100.4) in the last 72 hours or are experiencing any kind of infection (respiratory infection, UTI, or anything that requires you to take antibiotics).

• Spectracell analysis looks inside your white blood cells for intracellular nutrient values to see whether they are depleted.
• We will take a simple blood draw and use it to examine your immune and antioxidant systems.
• You do not have to be fasting to complete this analysis unless you have other comprehensive labs scheduled for the same day.
• Copies of lab results are not provided to clients prior to their provider appointments. The provider who orders your test is responsible for explaining your results and reviewing recommendations with you. It is both our privilege and our responsibility to do so
• You may wish to set up an appointment with our clinical nutritionist or attend one of our lab 101 or micronutrient classes to explore more about your results.

At least 5 minutes before your appointment time

• Stop taking any fish oil supplements at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.
• Do not take any supplements containing Vitamin C or Vitamin E for 24 hours before your appointment.
• If you are on aspirin, call us to discuss whether you need to stop taking it.
• Let us know if you plan to do any activities that require submerging in water in the 7 days following your appointment—we will need to reschedule if so.

• Pellet placements are considered minor procedures, so you will need to plan on no exercise or shower for 24 hours following your appointment.
• Do not submerge yourself in water for 7 days after your appointment.
• Do not perform any lower body exercise for 3 days after your appointment.

Instead of coming to the office, your visit can take place anywhere you are comfortable. You will receive an emailed link to access your virtual Zoom meeting at least 24 hours in advance.

We recommend logging on at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment to ensure your technology is working properly.

• One week prior to your appointment, fill out and return any required paperwork to in**@******fe.com. For each visit, we require an updated medication and supplement list. This list should include what you are taking and how you are taking it, not what has been recommended, as TNT is aware of our recommendations. • Your visit is for you! We ask that you prepare for your visit by letting us know ahead of time what questions and concerns you would like to address at your meeting. This information should be sent to in**@*********fe.com.
• Download and install Zoom.
• If you have never used Zoom before, you are welcome to log on early to practice, ensure your microphone and video are working, and adjust your settings.
• If you run into technical issues, please call our office. Keeping your appointment is more important to us than technology issues. For certain types of appointments, we may be able to switch you to a phone consultation.

• If you are meeting with your provider, your appointment will last approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. If you are meeting with a coach, your appointment will last 30 minutes to 1 hour.
• If possible, please turn your camera on. We recognize that there are some situations in which clients are unable to use the camera function, but we do prefer to see you if we can.
• If you are on your call for more than 15 minutes and your coach or provider has not arrived, please call our office right away. It’s never our goal to run late; however, due to the complexity and thoroughness of our approach, running over or behind does happen on occasion.
• Be patient and be ready to dig in immediately when your coach/provider enters your call. We have a lot to accomplish and want to get to it all.

• You will receive information and handouts at least 24 hours in advance of the class. If you like them in print, you must print this information to bring with you to the class. In order to keep our costs low and programs affordable, TNT does not supply printouts.
• Bring your TNT binder with any labwork or relevant information included. We refer to this information often.
• Be ready to fill out relevant questionnaires when you arrive.

• Download and install Zoom.
• If you have never used Zoom before, you are welcome to log on early to practice, ensure your microphone and video are working, and adjust your settings.
• You will receive information and handouts at least 24 hours in advance of the class. Please print this information or save it in PDF form to have on-hand during the class.
• Have your TNT binder close at hand with any labwork or relevant information included.
• Some classes are discussion-based and others are lecture-based. It is up to you whether you would like to turn your camera on during these classes.
